Plastic Injection Moulding Toolmaker

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Toolmaker with hands‑on experience in plastic injection moulds to join a well‑established manufacturing operation in Killarney Gardens, Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping moulds in optimal condition, troubleshooting issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manufacture, maintain, repair and modify plastic injection moulds.
• Perform preventative maintenance and diagnose mould‑related problems.
• Assist during mould trials and contribute to process improvements.
• Interpret technical drawings and specifications to produce accurate tooling.
• Operate conventional toolroom machinery safely and, where applicable, CNC equipment.
• Ensure moulds are production‑ready and meet quality standards.
• Collaborate with production, quality and toolroom teams.

Required profile

• Qualified Toolmaker with a recognised trade qualification.
• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience.
• Proven experience working with plastic injection moulds.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Plastic injection mould handling and maintenance.
• Interpretation of technical drawings.
• Operation of conventional toolroom machinery.
• CNC machining (advantageous).
• Fault‑finding and problem‑solving in a manufacturing setting.
