Phlebotomist

About the role

Ampath, one of Southern Africa's leading pathology laboratories, is hiring a full-time Phlebotomist in Sandton, Gauteng. The role covers blood collection, specimen handling, patient information management and basic administration, with a focus on accuracy, safety and a patient-centred approach.

Key responsibilities

• Collect blood and non-blood specimens according to established clinical standards and safety protocols.
• Ensure accurate patient identification, specimen handling and documentation.
• Capture and manage patient information using digital systems.
• Process patient payments and maintain accurate administrative records.
• Deliver a professional, caring and patient-centred experience.
• Maintain compliance with quality assurance, safety and infection control standards.

Required profile

• Recognised qualification in Phlebotomy or Nursing.
• Current registration with the HPCSA or SANC as a Phlebotomist or Registered Nurse.
• 0-1 years of experience as a Phlebotomist in a pathology laboratory.

Required skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Sound computer literacy and confidence working with digital systems.
• Patient-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence.
