Junior Registered Nurse – Home Health & Hospital at Home

About the role

Discovery Health is seeking a Junior Registered Nurse to join its Home Health and Hospital at Home team. You will provide high‑quality, patient‑centered care in the comfort of patients’ homes, supporting a seamless telehealth‑enabled healthcare experience.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct autonomous, holistic assessments in patients’ homes and develop shared management plans.
• Deliver clinical interventions such as intravenous therapy, nebuliser treatment and wound care.
• Identify and respond to emergency situations (e.g., anaphylaxis, cardiac or respiratory deterioration).
• Assess home safety, liaise with patients, carers and multidisciplinary teams to mitigate risks.
• Maintain accurate patient records in line with POPIA and ensure effective handovers.
• Set up, troubleshoot and maintain remote monitoring devices, coordinating with vendors as needed.
• Provide education to patients and families about programmes, devices and medication collection.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (SANC) with a four‑year Bachelor of Nursing degree.
• Minimum 3 years clinical experience in an acute‑care hospital setting.
• Valid Basic Life Support certification and own transport with a driver’s licence.
• Ability to work independently, adapt to changing circumstances and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
• Competence in IV therapy, nebuliser administration, wound care and pain management.
• Phlebotomy skills.
• Experience with remote monitoring device installation and troubleshooting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
