Medical Trainer – Rx Training

About the role

Austell Pharmaceuticals is looking for a knowledgeable and engaging Medical Trainer for its Rx Training programme, based in Parktown, Johannesburg. The trainer develops and delivers medical and product training to Doctor Detailing Sales Representatives, Brand Managers and Regional Sales Managers, helping them strengthen their knowledge of prescription medicines, treatment areas and compliant communication with healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver medical, product and competitor training.
• Conduct onboarding, refresher and ongoing training sessions.
• Simplify complex medical and scientific information into practical training content.
• Develop and maintain accurate, compliant training materials.
• Prepare assessments, identify knowledge gaps and provide targeted coaching.
• Monitor training effectiveness and employee development.
• Stay up to date on medical research, treatment guidelines and regulatory developments.
• Assist with medical information and drug-related customer queries.
• Ensure training complies with pharmaceutical regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with Medical Advisors, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs and Sales Management, and continuously improve training methods.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Healthcare, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, Life Sciences or a related scientific field.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in a multinational pharmaceutical company, and with Rx medicines and training delivery, is advantageous.
• Full-time, office-based position in Parktown; flexibility to work additional hours and make occasional field visits.
