Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic)

About the role

Shoprite is looking for a dedicated Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) to join its pharmacy team in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu‑Natal. You will support the pharmacist in dispensing medication, maintaining stock accuracy and ensuring all records comply with regulatory standards in a busy retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in accurate dispensing of prescription and over‑the‑counter medicines.
• Maintain inventory levels, perform stock checks and manage medication labelling.
• Ensure all pharmacy records are up‑to‑date and meet South African Pharmacy Council regulations.
• Provide courteous, professional customer service and answer medication‑related queries.
• Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry and preparing reports.
• Collaborate with pharmacists and team members to uphold health‑and‑safety protocols.

Required profile

• National Diploma or equivalent in Pharmacist Assistant (Post‑Basic).
• Valid registration with the South African Pharmacy Council.
• Minimum of one year practical experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced retail environment.
