Payroll Accounts Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Payroll Accounts Manager to oversee payroll‑related accounting functions for our client base in Johannesburg. The role combines day‑to‑day ledger management with leadership of a dedicated payroll accounting team, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform monthly payroll reconciliations and identify payroll risk areas.
• Manage daily accounting activities, including general ledger entries and financial reporting.
• Maintain accurate financial records and payroll‑related accounting transactions.
• Reconcile subsidiary accounts and ensure ledger integrity.
• Prepare trial balances and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Support payroll‑related internal and external audits and sign‑off processes.
• Assist with flash reporting and quarterly and year‑end CFO reporting requirements.
• Maintain historical financial records and filing systems.
• Lead and manage the payroll accounting support team.
• Provide support to the Financial Manager on ad‑hoc projects and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in payroll accounting and monthly reconciliations.
• Experience managing general ledger entries and financial reporting.
• Ability to lead and develop a payroll accounting support team.
• Familiarity with audit support and sign‑off processes.
• Strong attention to detail in maintaining historical financial records.
