Analyst, Portfolio Fund Solutions

About the role

Liberty is looking for a skilled Analyst to join its Portfolio Fund Solutions team in Johannesburg. The role focuses on evaluating fund performance, exposures and risk profiles, turning raw data into actionable insights that support investment decisions and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate performance trends, exposure levels and risk characteristics across a range of investment funds and mandates.
• Transform raw portfolio data and market intelligence into organized, insightful reports.
• Support portfolio oversight by delivering comprehensive analytical outputs.
• Contribute to risk‑management enhancements through detailed analysis and reporting.
• Assist fund selection and portfolio construction with critical analytical support.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers, research teams and product development to gather inputs and validate findings.

Required profile

• A first‑degree qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance or Accounting (post‑graduate degree advantageous).
• 5–7 years of experience in asset and portfolio management, especially analysing credit portfolios, instruments and exposures.
• 3–4 years of experience interpreting complex portfolio data, market information and performance metrics.
• 5–7 years of collaborative experience with portfolio managers, research or product development teams.
• Strong behavioural competencies in clear communication, attention to detail, influencing stakeholders and strategic development.
• Technical competence in active investment management, asset‑management compliance, risk‑management evaluation and detailed financial analysis.
