Patisserie Lecturer – Teach Culinary Arts

About the role

The International Hotel School Cape Town Campus is seeking an experienced Patisserie Lecturer to deliver both theoretical and practical pastry training to aspiring culinary professionals. You will inspire students, guide their development, and contribute to the school’s reputation for excellence in hospitality education.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver theory lectures and hands‑on kitchen pastry sessions.
• Maintain a minimum pass rate of 85 % and a throughput rate of 90 %.
• Track student progress, provide counselling and support.
• Contribute to curriculum design and continuous improvement.
• Apply assessment principles in line with the assessor code of conduct.
• Organise industry‑linked activities such as open‑day demonstrations, competitions and pastry‑based excursions.

Required profile

• Minimum NQF 5 qualification in hospitality (e.g., City & Guilds Diploma in Food Preparation, Cooking & Patisserie).
• CATHSSETA Unit 73292 certification.
• Assessors and Moderators certificate and outcome‑based assessment accreditation.
• At least 5 years of professional pastry experience.
• Minimum 2 years of lecturing, teaching or assessor experience.
• Previous managerial experience in a culinary environment.
