About the role

The International Hotel School Benoni Campus is looking for a Patisserie Lecturer to teach and share a passion for the culinary industry with eager young students, helping them grow individually and supporting their career paths. It is a full-time, challenging and rewarding role.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct theory lectures and kitchen pastry practical sessions
• Ensure an 85% pass rate and 90% throughput rate
• Track, counsel and support students
• Contribute to curriculum development and improvement
• Apply assessment principles according to the assessor code of conduct
• Carry out industry time and research
• Lead competitions and organise pastry-based excursions for students

Required profile

• Minimum NQF 5 qualification in the hospitality industry
• City and Guilds Diploma in Food Prep and Cooking and Patisserie
• CATHSSETA scoping (Unit 73292)
• Assessors and Moderators certificate
• Certified to conduct outcome-based assessment
• Minimum 5 years of pastry experience
• Minimum 2 years of lecturing, teaching or assessor work
• Experience in a managerial position
