Patisserie Facilitator

About the role

The Al‑Fidaa Foundation is seeking a full‑time Patisserie Facilitator to lead its bakery‑skills training programme in Cape Town. You will work on‑site delivering a structured curriculum that equips community members with practical pastry and baking techniques while promoting food‑safety and entrepreneurship.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver daily patisserie and bakery classes using a predefined curriculum.
• Conduct hands‑on demonstrations of pastries, breads, cakes and desserts.
• Maintain a safe, hygienic kitchen environment and ensure proper use of equipment and ingredients.
• Track learner attendance, progress and assessment results, providing constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with program managers on outreach activities and curriculum updates.
• Support participants in developing employability and small‑business skills related to patisserie.

Required profile

• Strong patisserie and baking expertise, with experience preparing a range of pastries, breads, cakes and desserts.
• Previous facilitation, teaching or practical‑skills training experience.
• Knowledge of food‑safety and hygiene standards and basic kitchen management.
• Ability to design and follow lesson plans, training schedules and assessment methods.
• Effective communication skills and a commitment to community development and social impact.
• Relevant culinary or bakery qualification/certificate is an advantage.
• Willingness to work full‑time on‑site in Cape Town and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
