Part-Time Sesotho Teacher

About the role

Reddford House Northcliff, a private school within the Inspired Education group, is looking for a part-time Sesotho teacher. The school sits on the Northcliff Ridge in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg and offers a holistic, nurturing learning environment. The teacher adopts a holistic view of students, promotes their progress and well-being, and creates a positive learning environment that motivates students to reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present interesting and engaging Sesotho lessons.
• Establish a nurturing teaching environment that promotes engaged learning.
• Behave professionally regarding punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and students' homework.
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
• Offer academic support on two afternoons per week and assist with two afternoons of co-curricular activities.
• Produce high-quality resources for students.
• Show loyalty to all aspects of the school and attend special occasions at the discretion of the Head.
• Set and mark examinations and other forms of student evaluation, and write report comments.
• Undertake any other reasonable tasks assigned by the School Head or line manager.

Required profile

• Proven track record of teaching Sesotho.
• Previous experience with the IEB programme.
• A university qualification and certified teaching status.
• SACE accreditation.
• At least 4 years' experience is advantageous; boarding mentor experience is also beneficial.
• Commitment to student development, a passion for the profession, excellent organisational skills and a positive attitude to change.

Required skills

• Confidence using IT in teaching.
• Sesotho teaching experience.
