Ophthalmic Nurse – Permanent Position

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Nurse to join a specialised private eye clinic in Cape Town on a permanent basis. You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and the theatre team to deliver high‑quality patient care before, during and after eye surgeries.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in ophthalmic surgeries, maintaining a sterile environment and handling surgical instruments.
• Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative care to ophthalmic patients.
• Perform scrubbing duties for eye procedures and support other surgical disciplines as needed.
• Monitor patients under local, regional or general anaesthesia.
• Maintain accurate medical records in line with hospital policies.
• Adhere to infection control, health and safety standards at all times.

Required profile

• Matric qualification and valid RN registration with the South African Nursing Council.
• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, including theatre exposure.
• Previous experience in ophthalmology or related fields is preferred.
• Scrubbing experience in ophthalmic surgeries is highly advantageous.
• Anaesthetic training or relevant experience is a plus.
