Operator Shift Control Room

About the role

The Operator Shift Control Room ensures the safety and security of mine premises by monitoring surveillance and alarm systems and responding to incidents. You will work in a 24/7 control room environment supporting the Security Operations team.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor CCTV cameras and initiate appropriate responses to suspicious activities.
• Watch computerised burglar and fire alarm systems and act on activations.
• Oversee guard patrol monitoring systems and alert shift supervisors to deviations.
• Update the computer‑based incident logging system, generate reports and capture incidents online.
• Operate the 24/7 emergency number and remote‑controlled gate control systems.
• Manage all radio communication systems and perform related administration duties.
• Send SMS alerts to senior leadership in emergencies or incidents.

Required profile

• Grade 12/N3 qualification.
• Completion of a formal Control Room Operators course.
• Registered Security Officer Grade B with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority.
• Valid South African driver’s licence.
• 2‑3 years of relevant safety/security experience in a control‑room setting, preferably mining.
• Practical experience with computerised access control, burglar alarm, incident logging, CCTV and guard monitoring systems.
