Operating Theatre Technical Consultant

About the role

Medtronic is seeking an Operating Theatre Technical Consultant to provide on‑site support for its medical technologies across the Free State and Northern Cape territories in South Africa. Based in Bloemfontein (or Kimberly), you will work directly with surgeons, theatre teams, and hospital stakeholders to ensure successful procedures involving spine, aortic, peripheral vascular health, and TruClear technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Support revenue, adoption and market share growth for spine, aortic, peripheral vascular and TruClear product lines.
• Deliver on‑site customer education, in‑servicing and procedural support for open spine, spinal implant, EVAR, TEVAR, peripheral vascular and TruClear cases.
• Prepare cases, set up systems, troubleshoot equipment, guide workflow and follow up after procedures.
• Coordinate equipment readiness, product availability and theatre/Cath Lab access, ensuring smooth case coverage.
• Maintain field inventory, perform stock monitoring, cycle counts and manage product expiry.
• Report weekly activity in CRM/Salesforce and comply with Medtronic quality, regulatory and safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Life Sciences, Biomedical Science/Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the medical device or healthcare technology sector.
• Willingness to travel up to 60 % across the Free State and Northern Cape.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with clinical teams and hospital stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Salesforce (CRM) for activity reporting.
• Technical expertise in product demonstration, system setup and troubleshooting of medical devices.
• Inventory management and stock control capabilities.
