Ocean Freight Manager

About the role

The Ocean Freight Manager will lead the Ocean Commercial Centre (OCC) team, driving volume growth and profitability across key trade lanes. Reporting to senior leadership, you will shape pricing strategies, manage carrier relationships and ensure seamless commercial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Drive ocean freight volume growth and develop country‑specific pricing and growth strategies.
• Lead the OCC team (≈20 staff) in imports, exports and cross‑trade, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Oversee tenders, RFQs, pricing analytics and improve win ratios.
• Negotiate carrier rates, monitor supplier performance and identify cost‑reduction opportunities.
• Collaborate with Sales, Trade Management and Operations to maximise gross profit and minimise revenue leakage.
• Maintain accurate selling and buying rates in all relevant systems and ensure commercial compliance.
• Mentor and develop team members, both onsite and virtually.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years in freight forwarding or logistics, with at least 8 years in ocean freight operations leadership.
• Proven track record of leading a high‑performing team of ~20 employees.
• Degree in Business Management or a related field.
• Strong negotiation skills, customer focus and ability to work across cultures.
• Fluent in English and the local language; willingness to travel.
