Nurse Educator

About the role

The Nurse Educator will design, deliver and evaluate higher education and training programmes for Mediclinic students and staff, ensuring they develop the competence required to practice independently. This role combines classroom instruction with clinical facilitation, supporting the continuous professional development of nursing teams across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all training complies with Higher Education & Training standards and American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines.
• Design, develop and assess learning materials and interventions using the ADDIE instructional design model.
• Facilitate theoretical and practical learning sessions, including clinical placements.
• Coordinate and administer student‑related processes such as enrolment, assessment and record keeping.
• Maintain alignment with Mediclinic training policies, nursing SOPs and relevant legislation.

Required profile

• Registered Professional Nurse.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Education, Health Science Education or a nursing speciality (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency, Operating Theatre).
• Master’s degree in Nursing is desirable.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience and at least 1 year of experience in training or education.

Required skills

• Instructional design expertise, preferably using the ADDIE model.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of Nursing Standard Operating Procedures and Mediclinic training policies.
• Familiarity with group facilitation tools and techniques.
• Understanding of Bloom’s taxonomy, adult learning principles and assessment methodologies.
