Nurse Educator – Higher Education & Training

About the role

The Nurse Educator will design, deliver and coordinate higher education and training programmes for Mediclinic students and staff, ensuring they develop the competence required to practice independently as healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Higher Education & Training and American Heart Association (AHA) standards.
• Design, develop and assess learning materials and interventions.
• Facilitate both theoretical and clinical learning sessions.
• Coordinate and administrate student‑related processes.

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Education (required).
• Postgraduate Diploma in a Nursing specialty (e.g., Critical Care) if appointed as a specialist educator.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Professional Nurse or Paramedic.

Required skills

• Instructional Design using the ADDIE model.
• Knowledge of Nursing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with Mediclinic Training and Nursing Policies and Procedures.
• Use of group facilitation tools, techniques and best practices.
• Understanding of learning and development quality management, Bloom’s taxonomy, and adult learning principles.
• Mentoring, coaching and scholarly skills.
• Assessment, moderation and application of healthcare‑related legislation within a training environment.
