Afrikaans Teacher – Grade 7 (Locum)

About the role

This is a locum position at a well‑established public primary school in Sandton, South Africa. The successful candidate will join the teaching team immediately to deliver Grade 7 Afrikaans as a First Additional Language and support other subjects as required.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Grade 7 Afrikaans FAL in line with the CAPS curriculum.
• Deliver Geography lessons and any other allocated Intermediate or Senior Phase subjects.
• Plan and deliver engaging, CAPS‑aligned lessons.
• Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain effective classroom management and contribute positively to the school environment.

Required profile

• BEd or PGCE qualification in the Intermediate and Senior Phase.
• Registered on the GDE database.
• Sound knowledge and experience of the CAPS curriculum.
• Ability to teach Grade 7 Afrikaans FAL (essential).
• Geography teaching experience is advantageous.
• Strong classroom management, communication and organisational skills.
• SACE registration (or eligibility to register) is preferred.
