Natural Sciences and Technology Teacher (Grades 4-7)

About the role

A private school in Sandton, Johannesburg is seeking a Natural Sciences and Technology teacher for Grades 4‑7. The position focuses on the Intermediate Phase (Grades 4‑6) with a bridge to Grade 7, within a technology‑integrated, project‑based learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver Natural Sciences and Technology lessons for Grades 4‑6 and Natural Sciences lessons for Grade 7, following the CAPS curriculum.
• Manage classroom and Learning Hub environments, including pacing, resource set‑up and age‑appropriate behaviour management.
• Establish and maintain formal and continuous assessment, track learner progress and communicate results to parents.
• Utilise the school’s Science Lab and Learning Hub for practical investigations and project‑based learning.
• Collaborate with Intermediate and Senior Phase teaching teams, share planning, and contribute to curriculum development.
• Support learners’ digital literacy and computational thinking, incorporating coding and robotics where relevant.

Required profile

• B.Ed or PGCE with an Intermediate/Senior Phase specialisation in Natural Sciences (or Natural Sciences and Technology).
• Current registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
• Minimum two years of teaching experience at Intermediate Phase level (Grades 4‑6), including experience with Grade 7 transition.
• Proven experience delivering the CAPS curriculum, ideally in Natural Sciences and Technology.
• Interest or familiarity with teaching coding and robotics (advantageous, not mandatory).
• Experience in a technology‑integrated, project‑based teaching environment is a plus.

What we offer

• Salary range R25 000 – R35 000 per month TCTC, inclusive of a 13th cheque and Provident Fund contribution (negotiable based on experience).
