Night Duty Staff Nurse – Cape Town

About the role

An opportunity exists for a Night Duty Staff Nurse to join the Vincent Pallotti branch in Cape Town. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality phlebotomy services to trauma, critical care, and general wards during night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide phlebotomy services to trauma, critical care units and general wards.
• Perform pathology tasks including order of draw, operation of point‑of‑care instruments (Hemocue, Stratus) and arterial blood gas analysis.

Required profile

• Enrolled Nurse Certificate and registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Minimum one year of experience post‑registration, with proven phlebotomy competence.
• Valid Code B manual driver’s licence.
• Fluent English and basic understanding of Afrikaans.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy techniques and order‑of‑draw knowledge.
• Operation of point‑of‑care devices such as Hemocue and Stratus.
• Arterial blood gas machine handling.
• Computer literacy, preferably with Meditech experience.
