Mining Programme Project Consultant – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term

About the role

The client is a Mining Sector Regulator overseeing numerous national mining projects and advising on occupational health and safety legislation. The Programme Project Consultant will operate at middle‑management level to ensure strategic initiatives are planned, coordinated, monitored and delivered on time.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate multiple projects and workstreams across the programme portfolio, maintaining integrated plans, schedules and milestones.
• Track progress against scope, cost, quality and timelines, identifying risks, bottlenecks and interdependencies.
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings, manage communications between mining operations, technical teams, finance, procurement, HR and contractors.
• Develop and maintain programme dashboards, KPI reports and regular status updates for senior management.
• Maintain risk and issue registers, ensure compliance with organisational policies, governance frameworks and mining legislation.
• Monitor project budgets, expenditures and resource allocation, working with Finance and Procurement to control costs.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities, lead lessons‑learned sessions and promote standardised project‑management practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Commerce Honours or related degree in Mining Engineering, Rock Mechanics, Geology, Health & Safety or similar.
• Recognised Project Management qualification (advantageous).
• Minimum five years experience working in a mine, with exposure to capital projects or operational improvement programmes.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects, budgeting, risk management and stakeholder engagement.
