Mechanical Engineer – Design & Project Management

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design, implement and manage electrical‑related equipment projects within a world‑class manufacturing environment. The role combines technical design, safety oversight and project leadership to ensure reliable, cost‑effective production processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement electrical‑related equipment, ensuring alignment with manufacturing best practices.
• Conduct risk assessments, HAZOP studies and design reviews to minimise safety and process risks.
• Drive continuous improvement, process development and mechanical design initiatives.
• Manage project budgets, procurement, equipment sizing, commissioning and EPC contracts.
• Provide technical support to production, monitor reliability, and address performance deviations.
• Prepare capital expenditure requests, reports and presentations for senior management.

Required profile

• Matric (Maths and Science) and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6–10 years of industrial experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
• Professional registration with ECSA (PR.Eng.) is an advantage.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with CRS Payroll Solutions.
• Knowledge of CMMS and other maintenance software.
• Understanding of Six Sigma methodology (Green Belt).
