Material Planner

About the role

The Material Planner will manage the end‑to‑end raw material planning process for our Midrand operations, aligning supply with production schedules and driving operational efficiency. You will analyse daily production plans, develop short‑ and medium‑term material forecasts, and support long‑term strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and mitigate material shortages to ensure uninterrupted production.
• Monitor and optimise inventory levels, managing slow‑moving and obsolete items.
• Provide accurate material schedules to suppliers and expedite deliveries per SAP recommendations.
• Maintain SAP data integrity and ensure system parameters are up‑to‑date.
• Propose and evaluate process improvements to enhance material flow and reduce costs.
• Assess short‑ to medium‑term supply‑chain risks and implement preventive actions.
• Manage working capital by controlling inventory against targets.
• Prepare shortage and surplus reports and maintain appropriate safety stock levels.

Required profile

• Solid experience in a supply‑chain role, preferably within an FMCG or food‑industry environment.
• Proven ability to manage run‑in/run‑out material flows and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Accounting or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive, flexible mindset.
• Experience leading continuous‑improvement projects in a dynamic setting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP (ERP/SC system).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
