Marketing Manager – Retail Head Office (Sandton)

About the role

The Marketing Manager will lead the retail marketing function for the head office in Sandton, Johannesburg. Reporting to senior leadership, you will shape and execute strategies that drive footfall, sales and brand equity across physical stores and digital channels for an international sports brand.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the retail marketing strategy aligned with commercial and brand objectives.
• Plan and manage annual and seasonal marketing calendars across all channels.
• Lead end‑to‑end retail campaigns, including promotions, product launches and brand initiatives.
• Oversee ATL, BTL and digital campaigns, coordinating in‑store activations, POS and experiential marketing.
• Manage digital channels such as paid media, social, email and website content, analysing performance and ROI.
• Collaborate with e‑commerce teams to grow online sales and drive omnichannel performance.
• Maintain brand guidelines across retail touchpoints and manage creative production and agency relationships.
• Develop trade marketing plans for store openings, promotions and category growth.
• Own the marketing budget, ensure cost control and present insights to senior management.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer behaviour to inform campaign planning.
• Lead, mentor and develop the internal marketing team and external partners.
• Ensure compliance with advertising standards, POPIA and brand/legal requirements.

Required profile

• Proven marketing experience within a retail environment.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in marketing, communications or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Excellent stakeholder management and budgetary control skills.
• Leadership experience managing teams and external agencies.
• Knowledge of South African advertising regulations and POPIA.
