Marketing and Events Manager

About the role

AIDC, a government-owned public entity supporting the South African automotive industry, is recruiting a Marketing and Events Manager for its Marketing Department. The post reports directly to the Senior Manager: Business Development and covers events, brand management, corporate marketing and communication, department oversight and people management. The appointment is permanent with a three-month probation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, budgeting and execution of internal and external events, and report on them
• Manage brand awareness, the design and production of marketing materials, newsletters and articles, reputation management and the CI manual
• Support the CEO, management and senior staff with media strategy, press releases and media relations, and advise on positive news opportunities
• Develop, plan and track marketing programmes that build awareness and generate demand for AIDC services
• Oversee the Marketing department, manage its budget and finances, and track performance data
• Manage staff, run performance planning sessions, set KRA targets, coach and appraise employees, and approve leave and expenses

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and a National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Marketing and/or Communication
• Events Management certificate; project management certification and registration with the Institute of Marketers are advantages
• 5 years of relevant experience, of which 3 years at management level
• Experience in government and the automotive industry
• Proven ability to work at a strategic level, and proven competence in crisis communication and reputation management
