Manager – Pensions Administration (Operations)

About the role

This senior manager position leads the Operations function of a prestigious financial institution’s retirement fund. The role is based in Pretoria and focuses on delivering operational excellence, risk mitigation, and compliance within pension administration.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational plans, policies, procedures, internal controls and system requirements for the Operations function.
• Identify, assess and mitigate operational risks while ensuring compliance with governance frameworks.
• Manage staff performance, support career development and lead a high‑performing team.
• Participate in task teams and working groups on behalf of the Group Retirement Fund.
• Authorize payments, accounting transactions and data entries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee pension administration processes and legislative submissions.
• Produce integrated management information reports to aid decision‑making.
• Lead stakeholder engagements with SARB Retirement Fund, SARB departments and external parties.

Required profile

• Honours Degree (NQF 8) in Financial Management or a related field.
• 8–10 years of pension fund administration experience.
• 3–5 years of people‑leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of pension operations, governance, compliance, financial controls and stakeholder management.
