Management Accountant X1 (Permanent)

About the role

The Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) is appointing a permanent Management Accountant X1 who reports to the Finance Manager. The incumbent handles management accounting and reporting for the MHSC, including revenue and research budgets, levy invoices and monthly and quarterly reports.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly DMR reports, Treasury Reports and monthly performance reports on mine levies, DMR levies and administration of fine levies
• Ensure revenue and research budgets are prepared and that levy invoices are raised on time, based on accurate databases
• Monitor the credit control office and research expenditure
• Validate the invoicing database, review and supervise receipt processing, and investigate debtors with credit balances
• Perform weekly bank reconciliations, handle bank queries and liaise with auditors on revenue, debtors and budgets
• Prepare the revenue budget and load it onto Pronum, then report actual revenues against budget
• Supervise staff, hold regular one-on-ones and performance reviews, and ensure recruitment and development plans follow departmental policy

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting
• 3 years of articles
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, including sales and debtors, purchases and disbursements

Required skills

• Payroll, General Ledger, reconciliation and reporting
• Knowledge of GRAP requirements and the PFMA
