Maintenance Officer - Facilities Services

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a Maintenance Officer to join its facilities management team in Johannesburg. The role covers the comprehensive maintenance of building infrastructure, including HVAC, water reticulation, electrical rooms and lift services, and acts as the first point of contact for staff facility queries. It combines hands-on technical upkeep with professional client service, within strict governance and service level agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor air-conditioning, generators, fire safety equipment and plumbing regularly to ensure continuous performance
• Handle logged maintenance calls and repair furniture and general office items
• Build relationships with internal departments and external service providers so SLAs are met
• Manage workshop stock levels, report on maintenance trends and assist with procurement
• Suggest improvements to facilities management practices to reduce costs and improve service delivery
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance and safety policies, including emergency evacuation support and compliant signage

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate is mandatory; an artisan qualification is an advantage
• At least two years of practical experience in building maintenance
• Proactive, communicative and technically inclined, able to work in a team
