Maintenance Fitter – FMCG Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join a leading FMCG manufacturing plant in Cape Town. The role involves hands‑on mechanical maintenance of production and packaging equipment in a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to mechanical breakdowns on production machinery.
• Perform planned and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Conduct fault‑finding and repair of mechanical equipment.
• Maintain, repair, and service production and packaging machinery.
• Assist with machine improvements and plant reliability projects.
• Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely and efficiently.
• Support production teams to minimise downtime.
• Maintain good housekeeping and comply with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Complete maintenance records and report recurring faults.

Required profile

• Trade Tested Fitter or Fitter & Turner qualification.
• Minimum 3–5 years post‑trade experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience in FMCG, food production, packaging, or related manufacturing environments.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding and breakdown repair experience.
• Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast‑moving plant.
• Must be based in Cape Town or surrounding areas and willing to work shifts, standby, or overtime.
