Library Services Manager

About the role

The Dannhauser Local Municipality is seeking a qualified Librarian to lead its Community Services library. This permanent position involves overseeing all library functions, ensuring service delivery aligns with municipal goals, and managing staff and resources.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement library policies, guidelines and service programmes.
• Supervise library personnel, manage budgeting, financial resources and stock control.
• Oversee collection development, acquisition, cataloguing and IT infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, prepare performance reports and liaise with stakeholders.
• Promote library services through marketing, community events and digital platforms.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science or related field.
• Minimum three years of relevant library experience.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Library management and cataloguing systems.
• Acquisition and collection development.
• Proficiency in MS Office and basic IT infrastructure management.
• Knowledge of library legislation and public library services.
• Stock control and website/social media management.
