Lecturer in Nursing (Full‑time, Permanent)

About the role

The School of Nursing at the University of the Western Cape seeks a full‑time Lecturer to support undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The appointment is jointly funded by the university and the provincial Department of Health, requiring a blend of academic and service‑delivery responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate teaching activities for undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes.
• Supervise Masters‑level research projects, particularly if holding a PhD.
• Deliver lectures, tutorials and practical sessions at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Participate in research initiatives and develop industry‑academic partnerships.
• Engage in community outreach and contribute to clinical service delivery under the joint establishment agreement.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Nursing or a related health discipline.
• Demonstrated teaching experience and a record of scholarly publications.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse/Midwife/Community Health Nurse/Psychiatric Nurse.
• Registration with SANC as a Nurse Educator, Assessor and Moderator.
• Preferably progressing towards or holding a PhD in Nursing.
