Boiler Training Officer

About the role

The Boiler Training Officer will design, develop and deliver technical training programmes for boiler operation, maintenance and management. Reporting to the Boiler Development and Training Centre Manager, the role involves both classroom instruction and on‑site training at customer locations, with occasional international travel.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, compile and regularly update boiler training materials to ensure technical accuracy.
• Present theoretical and practical training courses to boiler operators and maintenance staff.
• Assess trainee performance through written and practical examinations, mark assessments and prepare detailed reports.
• Identify training needs, provide technical guidance, and support customers post‑training.
• Promote training courses, prepare quotations and follow up on sales opportunities.
• Maintain training equipment, facilities and accurate attendance records.
• Travel to customer sites, both locally and internationally, to deliver training as required.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification with a valid driver’s licence.
• Boiler Attendance Certificate (N2 or N3); Mechanical Engineering qualification is advantageous.
• Minimum five years experience as a Boiler Operator.
• At least two years experience in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
• Fluency in English; additional South African language is a plus.
• Willingness to travel for extended periods.
