Lecturer – Food & Beverage (Independent Contractor)

About the role

The institution is seeking an experienced Food and Beverage professional to join as an independent contractor lecturer. You will teach modules for the Diploma in Hospitality Management and the Higher Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism across two campuses.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, workshops and tutorials for Food & Beverage subjects, both in‑person and online.
• Design, update and maintain course content, curricula and instructional materials.
• Create and administer assessments, grade work and provide constructive feedback.
• Offer academic advice, mentorship and support to students, including consultation hours.
• Contribute to curriculum development and ensure alignment with industry standards and accreditation requirements.
• Engage in continuous professional development and collaborate on teaching‑related research projects.
• Handle administrative duties such as attendance tracking, grading records and committee participation.
• Promote an inclusive classroom environment that supports diversity, equity and inclusion.

Required profile

• A degree at NQF level 7 in Hospitality with a specialization in Food and Beverage.
• Significant Food & Beverage management experience in fine‑dining settings, preferably as a restaurant or outlet manager.
• Reliable transport for travel between the Salt River and Tygervalley campuses.
• Prior lecturing experience (in‑person or online) is advantageous.
• Commitment to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion in the learning environment.
