Lead Internal Auditor – Talent Pipeline

About the role

We are building a talent pipeline for future opportunities in our Internal Audit team. As a Lead Internal Auditor you will go beyond compliance checks, providing independent, risk‑focused insights that help protect our bank and its customers.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and lead risk‑based internal audits that deliver actionable insights to senior leadership.
• Utilise data analytics and computer‑assisted audit techniques to identify patterns, anomalies and risk exposures.
• Assess processes, controls and systems against internal standards, best‑practice principles and regulatory requirements.
• Translate technical findings into clear, concise reports that drive decision‑making.
• Collaborate with the Audit Manager and stakeholders to align on findings and monitor implementation of action plans.
• Identify gaps in business practices and recommend practical, proportionate remediation steps.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a risk‑based auditing environment.
• At least 3 years of experience using data analytics and computer‑assisted audit techniques.
• Relevant tertiary qualification; CA (SA) or completed CIA qualification is a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in accounting principles and confidence working with financial reports.
• Strong understanding of internal auditing procedures and standards.
• Ability to apply management principles to assess deviations from good business practice.
• Working knowledge across accounting, economics, commercial law, taxation, finance, quantitative methods and information technology.
