Lead Specialist: Records, Risk and Reporting

About the role

The Lead Specialist will oversee and enhance Absa’s governance frameworks for records, data‑risk controls and reporting obligations. The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, audit readiness and operational soundness across the full data lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate BRIAR and EUDA activities, ensuring timely reviews, evidence maintenance and action tracking.
• Implement records retention policies, classify records, and manage destruction planning and validation.
• Develop and maintain risk registers, issue logs and produce management reports, dashboards and governance packs.
• Track audit findings and remediation actions, supporting compliance with data and records management standards.
• Identify process improvements, drive automation opportunities and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across risk, compliance, technology and operations.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of experience in records management, risk or governance within a regulated environment, preferably banking.
• Relevant diploma or degree; certifications in Records Management, Risk Management or Data Governance are a plus.
• Proven ability to prepare management reports, dashboards and governance documentation.
• Strong understanding of GRC principles and excellent stakeholder communication skills.
