L2 IT Engineer

About the role

Our client, a well‑established Managed Services Provider, is seeking a technically driven Level 2 IT Engineer to join their growing technical team in Johannesburg North. The role focuses on supporting Microsoft infrastructure and cloud environments across multiple client sites while delivering high‑quality customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 2 technical support for infrastructure, cloud, and networking issues across a diverse client base.
• Administer and support Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Manage Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Support Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Microsoft Intune.
• Troubleshoot desktop, server, networking, and cloud‑related problems.
• Assist with server builds, migrations, Microsoft 365 deployments, and infrastructure upgrade projects.
• Configure and support VMware and Hyper‑V virtualization platforms.
• Monitor client environments using RMM tools and proactively resolve alerts.
• Perform backup monitoring, disaster‑recovery testing, and routine system maintenance.
• Escalate complex issues to Level 3 engineers while maintaining incident ownership.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and update client records in the PSA system.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in a Level 2 IT Support or Systems Support role within a Managed Services Provider.
• Strong experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure environments.
• Solid knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Experience supporting Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Intune.
• Proficiency with VMware and/or Hyper‑V virtualization.
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VPNs, VLANs, wireless, firewall troubleshooting).
• Experience with backup and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
