L2 Infrastructure Engineer – Global IT Services

About the role

We are looking for a proactive L2 Infrastructure Engineer to provide enterprise‑level technical support, infrastructure management and security optimisation for a prestigious London‑based client. Based in Cape Town, you will ensure seamless IT operations across Windows, Linux and Mac environments while collaborating with internal teams and third‑party vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide L2 support for hardware, software and networking, diagnosing issues on desktops, laptops, tablets, servers, virtual and cloud platforms.
• Administer Active Directory, Entra AD, Microsoft 365, Exchange, SharePoint and Teams.
• Maintain Windows Server (2016‑2022) and Linux systems, including VMware ESX/vCenter and Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop environments.
• Manage backup and disaster‑recovery solutions such as Veeam Backup, Replication, iLand and Veeam Monitor.
• Oversee SANs, HP servers, UPS, Cisco networking equipment and enterprise mobility tools (Ivanti Neurons, Ivanti UEM).
• Monitor infrastructure with PRTG and handle incident/problem management.
• Troubleshoot networking components (DNS/DHCP, routing, switching, Meraki, SilverPeak, VPNs, VoIP, Palo Alto, Cisco, Brocade Fibre).
• Implement and maintain firewall, VPN and cloud security policies, including CrowdStrike endpoint protection.
• Support SQL Server (2016/2019), Power BI and perform basic DBA tasks.
• Utilise DevOps tools (GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, Python, Visual Basic) to aid automation initiatives.
