Junior Tax Accountant

About the role

This position is for a driven junior finance professional with a passion for tax, accuracy and compliance. You will gain hands‑on exposure in a fast‑paced accounting firm serving a diverse client base across the East Rand.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit VAT201, EMP201, EMP501 and IT14 returns.
• Assist with SARS e‑filing, queries, follow‑ups and compliance administration.
• Process tax calculations for individuals, companies and trusts.
• Support the preparation of annual financial statements and respond to audit queries.
• Perform reconciliations for VAT, PAYE and control accounts.
• Assist with monthly management accounts and inter‑company invoicing.
• Maintain accurate filing of tax documents, annual returns and statutory records.
• Provide basic accounting processing, costing and project financial support.
• Handle general admin duties related to tax and compliance.
• Collaborate with senior accountants to meet deadlines.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting or equivalent (advantageous).
• 1–2 years of tax or accounting experience, or articles exposure.
• Experience with VAT, PAYE and SARS submissions preferred.
• Strong understanding of basic tax principles.
• Proficiency in SARS e‑filing.
• Knowledge of EMP501, EMP201, VAT201 and IT14.
