Junior Software Engineer

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing software company based in Cape Town, is looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join the development team. You will work closely with the CTO and senior engineers, learning the codebase, gathering user data and delivering enhancements to existing products.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development and maintenance of web‑based software products.
• Learn and navigate the existing codebase, respond to feature requests and bug reports.
• Collaborate with senior developers and the CTO to gather requirements and provide estimates.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous integration / continuous delivery pipelines.

Required profile

• BSc (Honours) degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 0‑2 years of software engineering experience, preferably in a full‑stack role.
• Strong academic performance (top 10% of class preferred).
• Familiarity with Agile development, RESTful APIs and clean‑code principles.

Required skills

• C# with ASP.NET Core and Entity Framework.
• JavaScript ES6 and React 17.
• SQL Server for database operations.
• Git version control (SourceTree preferred).
• AWS Elastic Beanstalk for deployment.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in any modern OOP language (e.g., C++, Java, Python, Kotlin).
