Junior Shipping Controller – Bellville, Cape Town

About the role

The Junior Shipping Controller will support the logistics team in Bellville, Cape Town, handling container loading, documentation, and transport coordination. This entry‑level position offers exposure to both local and international shipping operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage container loading, seals, and picking lists; prepare and approve commercial invoices.
• Check and approve export documentation and transport invoices; communicate ETAs, ETDs, and customs delays to clients and sales teams.
• Book trucks for inter‑company transfers, issue weekly transport requirements, and reconcile transport tax invoices.
• Oversee stock volumes, inventory flow, and reservations for international warehouses using Syspro and Excel.
• Process rework documentation, prepare import files, capture ACRs on pallets, and confirm jobs.
• Monitor forklift drivers in coordination with the warehouse controller.
• Send shipping documentation to clients or banks, manage local loading schedules, and negotiate rates with transport and courier providers.
• Update transport trip reports and submit weekly/monthly ETA, ETD, and warehouse reports.

Required profile

• Junior‑level experience or strong understanding of local and international shipping functions.
• Familiarity with commercial, pro‑forma, SAISI concession, and export/customs documentation.
• Hands‑on experience with container loading, transport booking, and pallet/stock management.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Syspro.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
