Junior Project Engineer – Energy Optimization

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Project Engineer to join our multidisciplinary consulting team in the Western Cape. The role focuses on delivering energy‑efficiency projects for mining, industrial and commercial clients, supporting design, implementation and performance monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development and implementation of energy project solutions for industrial, commercial and mining clients.
• Interpret energy consumption analysis reports, identify optimisation opportunities and report results.
• Propose and document interventions based on analysis outcomes.
• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) using Visio.
• Create site layout plans and conduct regular site visits/audits.
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot existing project infrastructure to ensure functionality.
• Administer and supervise contractors on‑site.
• Manage installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Develop and implement quality‑assurance plans.
• Draft operational and maintenance procedures tailored to each project.
• Provide project‑management services for approved projects and monitor post‑implementation performance.
• Oversee subcontractors and ensure health and safety standards are upheld.

Required profile

• BSc/BEng in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (mandatory); MEng advantageous.
• Fluency in English and proficiency in Afrikaans for bilingual meetings.
• Valid driver’s licence, own transport and passport.
• Willingness to travel across South Africa, occasionally abroad, and work underground in mining environments if required.
• Strong client‑engagement skills, ethical conduct and ability to report to senior managers and client representatives.

• Visio for PFD and P&ID development.
