Junior Mechanical Designer

About the role

Jendamark Automation is seeking a Junior Mechanical Designer to join its design department. The role focuses on delivering engineering designs and solutions that meet specific customer requirements and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and detail small special‑purpose applications and fixtures.
• Develop the most effective design solutions to achieve required specifications.
• Specify components for procurement and collaborate with senior design engineers on detailing.
• Produce ECR designs and detailed drawings for tools and fixtures.
• Assist with assembly during the project phase.
• Create design release packages for manufacturing and ensure compliance with ISO procedures.
• Perform stress, force, and accuracy calculations within a controlled budget.

Required profile

• Formal tertiary education: N. Dip or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Valid Code 8 driver’s licence.
• Fluent in English (spoken, read, written); Afrikaans required; German advantageous.
• Minimum 1 year of design experience.
• Team‑player with initiative and cost‑reduction mindset.

Required skills

• Concept development and design calculations.
• Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
• Machine calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Understanding of material specifications and manufacturing processes.
• Stress and force analysis.
