Junior Engineer (8 positions) – Electrical Engineering

About the role

The Lesotho Electricity Company is seeking eight Junior Engineers to support the planning, design, and operation of its power transmission and distribution network. This entry‑level role offers hands‑on experience in maintaining critical infrastructure and contributing to national electrification projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of transmission and distribution systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, and power lines.
• Support load analysis, fault detection, and system performance monitoring activities.
• Participate in engineering projects such as rural electrification and network extensions, preparing technical drawings and reports.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance programmes while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Collect and analyse operational data, produce technical documentation, and maintain accurate engineering records.
• Provide technical assistance to customers and collaborate with other departments during connection processes.
• Ensure adherence to national electricity regulations and company standards.

Required profile

• BSc in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience.
• Basic knowledge of power systems (generation, transmission, distribution).
• Understanding of electrical design tools.
• Computer literacy and strong report‑writing skills.
• Valid driver’s licence.
