Junior Electronics Technician

About the role

We are looking to employ a highly motivated skilled individual to join our Engineering Team at our Pietermaritzburg Manufacturing Site. The role involves performing planned electronic maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns and supporting the design of new equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out electronic planned maintenance work within defined time limits.
• Diagnose and repair electronic breakdowns, ensuring adequate spare parts are available.
• Analyse test data, adjust, calibrate, align and modify circuitry and record performance effects.
• Read and interpret electronic schematics, blue‑prints and technical manuals for installation and repair.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineers on the design and implementation of new electronic equipment.

Required profile

• Trade‑tested Electrician qualification or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (S4).
• 3–5 years experience in a manufacturing environment within an engineering team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities; able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Advanced computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite.

Required skills

• Experience with AC and DC drives selection and programming.
• Proficiency in SCADA package programming and diagnostics.
• Programming, integration and selection of HMI and PLC systems.
• Use of electronic test equipment such as meters, signal generators, power supplies, oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers.
• Ability to read and work from electronic schematics, diagrams and technical manuals.
