Junior Data Analyst – FMCG Retail & Wholesale

About the role

Our client, a leading FMCG retail and wholesale company in Cape Town, is looking for a detail‑oriented Junior Data Analyst to support data‑driven decision‑making across the business. This role offers early‑career professionals exposure to financial, operational and commercial data in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse sales, stock and financial data to identify trends and actionable insights.
• Monitor inventory movement and highlight risks or opportunities.
• Prepare regular reports, dashboards and management information for stakeholders.
• Support the development and maintenance of reporting tools and business intelligence solutions.
• Perform data validation and ensure accuracy across reporting outputs.
• Assist with forecasting, planning and business performance analysis.
• Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, Operations and IT teams to meet reporting needs.
• Respond to ad‑hoc data requests and business queries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Information Systems or a related field.
• 0‑2 years of experience in a data, reporting, finance or analytics environment.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret data and communicate insights clearly.
• Good organisational and time‑management skills.
• Experience with Power BI, SQL or similar tools is advantageous.
