Head of Software Engineering

About the role

The Head of Software Engineering is a senior leader within the middle‑management team, responsible for steering software architecture, development practices and the overall health of the software engineering discipline. The role focuses on aligning services with industry standards, driving growth in existing accounts, and ensuring high‑quality project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Understand client environments, identify business needs and match them with the company’s offerings.
• Lead pre‑sales activities, generate leads, and expand engagements with existing clients.
• Collaborate with General Manager, Account Manager and Business Development on opportunity pipelines.
• Provide oversight and quality governance during project delivery, including risk management and client expectation handling.
• Define and execute the discipline’s strategy, capability framework, career pathways and competency models.
• Own annual sales, revenue and gross‑profit targets; manage headcount, utilisation and pipeline metrics.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams and delivering complex software projects.
• Strong client‑facing skills with a track record of relationship‑driven growth.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with HR, Finance, Business Development and General Management.
• Commercial acumen to manage budgets, pipelines and profitability.
