Junior Clinical Engineer Technician

About the role

The Hospital Engineering Manager is seeking a Junior Clinical Engineer Technician to support the maintenance and coordination of medical equipment technology at Life St Dominic’s Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain an accurate computerized asset management system and determine equipment replacement needs.
• Perform first‑line repairs, modifications, installations and preventive maintenance on medical equipment according to OEM and regulatory standards.
• Control supplier‑performed maintenance, conduct pre‑acceptance inspections and commission new equipment.
• Assist in the selection, acquisition and supply‑chain management of medical equipment, including capex, lease and rental agreements.
• Provide formal operator training, monitor competency and arrange vendor training for nursing staff and end‑users.
• Participate in national clinical engineering initiatives, forums and projects.

Required profile

• Diploma in clinical/biomedical engineering or electronics.
• Experience maintaining medical equipment in a clinical environment.
• Member of the Clinical Engineering Association of South Africa (CEASA).
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry is an advantage.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel.
