Junior Bookkeeper (Hybrid) – Kloof, Durban

About the role

An established accounting practice in Kloof, Durban is seeking a Junior Bookkeeper to manage a diverse client portfolio. This role offers the chance to deepen accounting knowledge while working in a professional, structured environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of monthly accounting clients.
• Review monthly VAT reports, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
• Prepare and review month‑end trial balances.
• Compile monthly management accounts.
• Provide Xero support and answer client accounting queries.
• Maintain accurate client accounting records and working papers.
• Assist with internal audits, data reconstruction and other projects.
• Ensure all client and statutory deadlines are met.

Required profile

• Matric and BCom Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 3–5 years recent experience within an accounting/auditing practice.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize effectively and meet strict statutory deadlines.

Required skills

• Xero accounting software.
• VAT reporting and reconciliations.
• Preparation and review of month‑end trial balances.
• Compilation of monthly management accounts.
• Bookkeeping and month‑end reporting.
• Working papers and supporting documentation management.
