IT Audit Manager

About the role

Capitec Bank is looking for a skilled technical auditor to join its Internal Audit team. The technology and data environment is growing fast, so the role needs deep technical expertise and the experience to work independently at a senior level. It is not a generalist role: candidates must understand SDLC, cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity and turn that knowledge into audits that strengthen the bank.

The position is based in Stellenbosch, South Africa, in one of the country's most digitally active banking environments, with complex systems, evolving security challenges and stakeholders who take audit findings seriously.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and lead end-to-end IT internal audits, with a focus on cloud environments and security controls
• Identify risks in the technology and data landscape and turn findings into clear, practical recommendations
• Engage senior stakeholders across tech and data teams so that audit outcomes lead to real change
• Stay current with emerging technology risks and apply that knowledge directly to audit planning
• Prepare and present audit reports that are sharp, balanced and easy to act on
• Monitor the implementation of agreed audit actions and track progress through to completion

Required profile

• At least 2 years of managerial experience in a banking environment, managing a team of 5 or more
• At least 5 years of IT/technology audit experience
• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or a related field
• Experience leading full audit cycles independently, from planning through to reporting
• A self-directed work style, taking ownership and seeing things through
• Ability to explain complex technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Required skills

• Strong expertise in cybersecurity, complex SDLC processes and cloud environments
• Understanding of IT systems and processes such as AWS, SDLC and cybersecurity
• Sound understanding of IT risk frameworks, governance and control environments
• Relevant certifications such as CISA
