iOS Developer (Intermediate / Senior)

About the role

Mr D, a division of the Takealot Group, is seeking talented Intermediate and Senior iOS Engineers to join its fast‑growing mobile e‑commerce team in Cape Town. You will work on a cutting‑edge iOS application that serves millions of customers, modernising legacy code and driving the platform forward.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design, development and maintenance of the iOS e‑commerce app written in Swift.
• Modernise the legacy codebase and contribute to platform evolution.
• Write, test and publish code to the Apple App Store.
• Monitor performance, profile the app and ensure stability and security.
• Participate in daily stand‑ups and collaborate with creative, content and engineering teams.
• Work closely with QA engineers to validate releases.

Required profile

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent.
• 3‑5 years of iOS development experience for intermediate level, 5‑8+ years for senior level.
• Proven ability to architect, develop, test and maintain iOS applications.
• Experience working in an Agile team environment.

Required skills

• Strong programming fundamentals in Swift.
• Hands‑on experience with SwiftUI.
• Working with RESTful APIs (JSON) and asynchronous processing.
• Understanding of iOS view‑controller and table‑view lifecycles.
• Version control using Git.
• CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI, Fastlane).
• Dependency management with CocoaPods.
• Familiarity with Firebase, Braze and Google Maps (nice to have).
• Experience with design collaboration tools such as Figma and Miro (nice to have).
